Main Purpose of Job

The Training and Development Specialist will work with the Training Manager in all aspects of developing and operating the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) training program for all State of Maryland agencies that use the software system to maintain their facilities. This includes teaching, curriculum design and development, assessment, and the writing of training publications such as user guides and tutorials.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties for this positioninclude but are not limited to:

- Teaching: Will be responsible for conducting live,"real-time" training sessions, both in-person and virtual (i.e., viathe Google Meets app), group and one-on-one. Will also be responsible fordeveloping and leading asynchronous online training using a Learning ManagementSystem (LMS).

- Curriculum development:Will work with the Training Manager in determining client needs and developingmodules and/or courses designed to equip clients with the necessary knowledge andskills to meet these needs.

- Evaluation/Assessment:Will work with the Training Manager in designing and developing evaluationtools (e.g., quizzes and exams), both written and practical applications, toassess the level of the trainees' knowledge and skills, as well as theeffectiveness of the training.

- Writing: Will beresponsible for composing training publications such as manuals, user guidesand tutorials as supplements to the training sessions, which will includecreating PowerPoint (or Google Slides) slide presentations to be used inconjunction with training sessions.

- Administrative duties:Will be responsible for creating and maintaining attendance records,transcripts, grading quizzes and exams, recording results, and creating andissuing certificates of completion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30credit hours from an accredited college or university foroneyear of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degreefrom a college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that includedregular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be givento applicants who possess the followingpreferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regarding allqualifications.

- Experience as a writer of educationaland/or technical documents (e.g., manuals, user guides, tutorials, etc.).

- Experienceas an adulteducator and/or trainer.

- Experience developingpre-recorded “asynchronous” training modules using a Learning Management system(LMS).

- Experience withdistance/virtual training.

- Experience operating and/orteaching computer software systems.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

The eligibility list will be valid forone year and may be extended. The list will be used by the hiringauthority to select employees for interviews. Eligible lists may be usedto fill future vacancies of the same classification.
