Is it hard to get into the ASU Masters program? ›

Competitive applicants typically have a “B” (3.00 on a 4.00 scale) grade point average in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework. If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirements, your application may still be considered by the department.

We typically receive more than 250 applicants for our various programs each year and admit approximately 10-20% of applicants.

In addition, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all courses required for the degree.

Many grad programs call for a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA. However, some programs may admit you with a 2.5 or even 2.0 GPA. Online graduate programs with low GPA requirements allow you to continue your education even if you didn't do great in undergrad. It never hurts to talk to a grad program about your GPA.

What is the Minimum GPA for Masters? The minimum GPA requirement varies from course to course and from university to university you choose. On average, some educational institutes will accept a low GPA of 2.5, while others require you to have at least a GPA of 3.0 to enroll in a master's program.

Most grad schools would require a minimum GPA of 3.0, but lower-ranked universities might accept students with 2.5+ GPAs as well. On the other end, elite colleges such as Harvard, Stanford, and MIT have high GPA expectations (3.5+ minimum, with average GPAs often as high as 3.8).

You can boost your GPA

Many online schools offer Advanced Placement, Honors and even dual enrollment or concurrent enrollment college-level courses. These can give your GPA the boost it needs to be competitive for college.

Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA (scale is 4.00 = "A") in the last 60 hours of a student's first bachelor's degree program or a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA (scale is 4.00 = "A") in an applicable master's degree program. The most competitive applicants will have a GPA of 3.30 or higher.

It is typical for a single program to receive about 200 or so applications for between 5 and 8 admission spots, making the chances of being admitted less than 5%.
